PORTRAIT PG 622-623 In this story, it talks about a women called Dona Marina. Why does a women need to be portrayed as a traitor to her people because she did something against the norm. As I read this story, I try to picture myself in her shoes. This women took life that gave her and never regretted what she did. I don't know what I would have done. I know I would be scared out of mind. She had been sold in slavery because her family wanted to make sure her half brothers gets the inheritance. She did get the last laugh against them. She came a piece of commodity to a Mayan Chieftain and then given away to Cortes. Along side with Cortes, she held the Spanish conquer the land. I think she didn't regret because she knew that it was something that kept from her from being dying. when you start reading this story, you start to think Cortes is a good guy to her but it just another man who only used her for what he could get.
