week #4

The Quran believes in oneness called the umma. Women can be equally honored and spiritually move closer to God. It demands justice and cutting down corruption. It is hard to believe that are some extremists using this book's belief in love not war and somehow using it for hate.

The Quran like Notre Dame de Namur University has a code of ethics. Notre Dame has seven Hallmarks that students and teachers alike strive for. 1) we proclaim God is good. 2) we respect the individualism 3) we strive for justice and peace 4) perform community society 5) strive embrace different faiths 6) help to bridge the difference between people and 7) We try to use education to make things better in people's lives.Quran has the  five pillars that people to strive to achieve God-conscious life.

Pillar #1 There is only "Allah" and Muhammad is the Messenger of God
Pillar #2 Must pray five times a day. As you pray, you are surrounding by Allah
Pillar#3 Justice for Everyone. Help the misfortune.
Pillar#4 Perform  a month Fasting, called Ramadan. It is meant to help you understand what a person who doesn't have a lot of food must go thru on a daily basis
Pillar#5 Once a year, take a pilgrimage to Mecca. This is to resemble the community as one.

The Hallmarks and Pillars have the same commitment to strive for. They both see God as everything and to use your values to bring justice and peace. They both wants us to experience the less unfortunate plight and want to help them thru education and community service. They want us to see that we are not different  from anyone else.
